Bootlegger magazine was created in Montreal, Quebec in 2021. It showcases contemporary up-and-coming artists through printed and digital media. Its curation is lead by a playful, eclectic and underground perspective that stays dynamic by covering a broad range of visual artworks. It includes many different mediums; from painting to nail art, all the way to knitting and tattoo. The magazine was born out of the COVID-19 pandemic and a need for representation of local emerging artists. Bootlegger wants to empower the youth through a community-based project. By archiving the current artistic realm, it immortalizes the work of promising talent from the team’s entourage and that of many other young Montrealers.
