The German company Heim Söhne was the largest tortoise shell factory in Europe in the 20th century. Now using Plexiglass treated like tortoiseshell so as to not hurt the turtles, they offer a wide selection of tableware in modern shapes and funky colours, from spoons to egg cups and salad bowls.
